Hello GSEF Friend! I want to share a story about one of our students. Tiberius grew up in Kisii, Kenya. One day, his father was walking home from a shopping center when he was hit from behind by a motorcycle. He sustained multiple injuries. Ten months later, he was dead. To support himself and his father, Tiberius took up soapstone carving. The income would not support living expenses and school fees for secondary school. Then the GSEF team stepped in. Thanks to your gifts, Tiberius found his way back to school. He is now in college. When Richard asked him his feelings, he simply said, “Who is God?” He says thank you for making it possible to stay on the path to education, despite the death of his father, and vows to pay it back by helping people too, following your example.
This is why we help. This is why we stepped forward with a matching gift–we want to make sure that 60 kids like Tiberius head to school in January. Our goal this year is $26,000, and we are well on our way. To get us started, Joanne and I are offering to match $6,000 in gifts made before October 31. If you want to be a part of that effort, see below for ways to give. Tiberius said to say thank you to everyone who keeps others at heart. Thank you!
If you can help, here’s how to make a gift:
By Credit Card: You can now give directly to GSEF through PayPal at https://www.paypal.com/donate/….
On Venmo: Our handle is @GlobalSEF.
By check, send your check payable to GSEF to 4130 SE 24th St., Des Moines, IA 50320.
Thank you so much for all you do for our students in Kenya, Zimbabwe, and Haiti!
Joe Nolte, GSEF Board President
PS–You can use PayPal to set up a monthly donation! If you give $10/month, I’ll get you a soapstone heart, and $50/month, and I’ll get you a soapstone angel. Both were carved in Kisii!
